carol.gimp.orgGIMP 2.2Customize Your Splash Screen |
|
New for gimp-2.2 you can easily make and use your own splash screen. You could always start TheGIMP without the splash screen by typing gimp --no-splash or gimp -s. And you could always build your own gimp and put an image in the right place to use your own. Now it is as simple as saving a properly sized image into the right place. |
Scale and CropI am not sure what the proper size is. The first image I used was from a photograph so I maintained the original porportions and this worked fine. I ended up making adjustments for the fact that TheGIMP needs 50 pixels from the bottom center of the image to show its messages. |

SaveSince the GIMP 2.2 File Selector follows the HIG saving this file with it should be easy. If you are unable to save this file into your ".gimp-2.1/" directory, there is something wrong with the HIG, which also says things about graphical user interfaces being intuitive. If you cannot figure out how to put this file in the right directory, the selector is not intuitive. Saving your custom image as .gimp-2.1/gimp-splash.png is all you need to do. The next time you start gimp up, you will see your splash instead of the one it came with. |
