Any holiday at all GIMP is able to liven up your holiday images with its light plug-ins if you find yourself without the fancy camera lens.

Preview of Zoomable Previews

First, a quick peek at the new GIMP zoomable previews (new to me, December 24, 2005 at least). There were so many of the gimp people born in what is considered the holiday season that it is nice to have a penguin birthday cake here for them because sometimes those birthdays can get lost underneath the christmas tree.

Twinkling Holiday Images

Now for Holiday twinkling....

This year Flickr has a few years of images tagged and available. Several holiday related images were there, I chose a these from a collection of images that are licensed the way I like to use on web pages like this and tried to put those licenses online. It makes you wonder what you might be doing next year....

Christmas tree

One for Virgil and one for here. I searched the archives with the words christmas tree and had a selection of 797 photographs to pick from. I picked 73379797 by the photographer known as andyz. The ShareAlike License can be somewhat like a chain letter -- the new license is here.

Birthday cake

I searched for birthday cake and found this Happy Birthday Penguin Cake in the collection of foamcow, the resulting license can be found here.

Anniversery Candles

Not exactly the image that I wanted -- I was looking for something more like dinner candles for this twinkle example. I finally got this Photo 115 by isaneblog which was close to what I was thinking about. I am also not certain if my twinkling effects added to the image to recreate the feeling I was going after either. The resulting license can be found here.
