X-Men: The Last Stand

Oh, I enjoyed X-Men: The Last Stand. It was not as good as the first two. Storywise, it seems to have had little effect on the saga, as when you are a mutant, you don't really die and you also don't really lose your powers. The cg, while beautiful in many ways was also somewhat incomplete...

really awesome cg

When Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen first appeared, I commented "Patrick Stewart looks really really good for how old he is. Hell, he looks the same as he did on television in the nineties....". I read later that it was cg. It was really good cg. It was better than make-up cg. It was good enough cg to be scary.

interesting yet incomplete cg

The move the Golden Gate Bridge. Magneto and his army of angry mutants pick the bridge up and move it to Alcatraz Island where they intend to kill a young mutant who is the source of the cure in which the whole movie is based on. The cg was as good as cg should be until the point they put the bridge down. First of all, anyone who has had basic physics knows that if you remove a bridge from its two props and put it somewhere where it doesn't have any props, it should wobble. Magneto defied basic physics, if you give him his super-power powers to move the bridge; towards the end when the bridge landed firmly into place. What was missing was something not unlike this gimp splash by Adrian. My comment about this was "I think the computer would have known this, even."

where was Alan Cummings?

I liked the first two X Men movies very much. This series actually should make it to my list of movies where the second one was better than the first. In this X Men to movies, the second one was better than the first one and much of that was due to Alan and his character Kurt Wagner/Nightcrawler. It was one of the reasons I was looking forward to seeing this.

Stephen King wrapper #2

They kept showing an out of control and very powerful mutant; I kept seeing the prom disaster from Carrie, which actually broke some ground back then. When I think about Carrie, I always think of how great my prom was. I didn't go. It really did interfer with my last musical that year. Now, my escorts to my musicals -- this is an entirely different type of relationship that still involved some dressing up. This is the second movie which included a Stephen King book/movie this year for me. The other one was V for Vendetta.
