I saw Henry Rollins in San Francisco last Tuesday. Since that day, I am choking on the words that I wish I had said to the woman who deemed his 2004 venue 'a slum', and so many other things, impressions, and more.
In this show, he called it 'Provoked' but I am going to call it 'One Show For Butch', he told a story about being in Beirut which was an expanded version of a taxi ride I had in Montreal. In his '25 Years of Bullshit' show, he told a version of what was my winter drive from rural Michigan into the college town where I worked, his story was about taking a train ride in Siberia. Anyone who heard that spoken performance of his, it wasn't frozen toilet stuff -- it was the road sludge that gets trapped between the wheel well and tire when you drive through unplowed snow.
Three things for this 'One Show for Butch':
- What the lady in the audience should have heard.
- 'My story' about trying to work with Butch's rules
- Warning: I intend to be for Henry, like his description of the last supporter of George Bush.
The first commercial I had seen for Henry's Film Corner was impressive, to say the least. I was laughing when I added it to the TiVO TODO list.
A few episodes later, when I saw the conversation between Heidi and Henry about Henry getting a Porsche for his birthday -- I laughed and sent him email about this. I changed the name of my best friend at the same time.
Then, he was here, appearing somewhat locally. For $20, I got to hear that he answered all emails.
