I used Dialogs/Tools to make changes to the toolbox again.
I toggled 5 of the 7 colortools so they would be visible in the toolbox. It looks like I also (probably in a fit of madness since I don't remember doing this) added Dialogs/Color to the lower dock on the toolbox.
Shrink wrapping is the way they used to explain it when GIMP's image window would first, adjust itself to the best view for the size of the display and second, adjust itself to the minimum image window possible for the view it contained.
Back to GIMP Preferences via <Toolbox>/Preferences this time, it is the Image Windows Preferences to "Resize window on zoom" and to "Resize window on image size change".
I had already used GIMP for a few years before the Menubar made an appearance and also into the default GIMP layout. It is usually the first thing to go. Just a little toggle in the first bunch of options in Image Windows Appearance.
For Macintosh Users trying to convert, this might be the same as losing your religon. In my lifetime, I have been asked to exchange spagettios & white bread for granola & whole wheat bread, regular cigarettes for menthol and standard transmissions for automatic. I think you should have no problem with this....
