that were put here but not mentioned in web pages here....
The first image shown is a thumbnail of and linked to the scan of the original of this image that is currently available at commons.wikimedia.org.
The first image in the next set of three is how I cropped that original image (it would have helped to expedite things at the photo printing place) and it too is linked to the original scan because you might prefer a different crop. The second is a rotated and mostly clone repair of the original scan. It links to a larger jpeg of itself because you are probably better at adjusting the colors to the way you like them than I am. The third image is the color leveled image that I preferred of all of the versions (including the commons Featured Picture version which surprised me by printing on 16x12 inches). I suspect that the higher resolution images will print at 11x17 inches -- which is really cool!
The xcf and the python script that adjusts the canvas to the active layer size.
For the case of not wanting to read all that stuff and not caring about having choices or thinking you can do it better, this is the one that looked the best as a photographic print. Happy Birthday, dad!
There was an honest earthquake here. Not as big as the one that made the blinds move back and forth much more than a year ago, but closer so while it was occuring I wondered if a car had hit this house. Even after the noise was over (mostly the clanging of jars and bottles) I sat at the computer table and the table wobbled for quite a disturbing while after.
This image was snarfed from one of the links that is on this web page which is devoted to the quake that concerned me for a few minutes. I have no idea what any of that information means -- feel free to contact your favorite earthquake expert or organization with your questions.
The whole month of October seems to be devoted to tricks and treats at the commons. From human sacrafice (which if they did do that, they shouldn't have) ((especially if it is because I ate those potatoes instead of photographing them)) to slapping each other around for strong and wrong voting blocks who also have some nice photographs to share.
Was it worth this screenshot? Perhaps another virgin needs to be tossed into a volcano for me to know. Are there any left?
